We are all prostitutes.

The currency of our trade isn’t always measured by intimate nights or folded dollar bills – we play at much higher stakes: we barter our hearts away. While the ladies of the night conceal their faces with layer upon layer of makeup and loiter in dim alleys; we, unlike them, know no shame. We brandish our statuses as prostitutes – flaunt them even – revel in our debauchery.

Of course, you never intended to become a prostitute to begin with. No one does. In kindergarten, when all the children drew pictures of what they wanted to be when they grew up, you drew the obligatory “doctor” or “teacher” with your blunt crayons, and waited for your mother to admire it. It did not matter that you spelt “doctor” with a “k” or that your sketch of a teacher had only three fingers on each hand – the ambitions were sufficient. You did not stand up and declare, “I want to be a harlot.” No one does.

In college, when everyone else was out partying and having the time of their lives, you stayed in your dormitory – hungover from too many late nights spent poring over your books. You worked evening shifts at a fast food restaurant to pay off your tuition fees and spent the rest of the time studying. You did not take the easy way out; did not smoke weed or get wasted or sleep with everyone in your corridor.

In fact, you saved your virginity for marriage – you married a nice decent boy and both of you bought a nice decent house and you had a nice decent job with nice decent hours and it is in the middle of the night that you realise that you have been unhappy all along. You are tired of this chaste life of yours that you have been living – and you decide: it is time to do something decadent. You climb out of bed and put on the shortest skirt you own, and take care to hitch it up two inches further.

You take nothing with you as you tiptoe out of the bedroom door and catch a glimpse of your husband’s silhouette stirring in the dark. You know full well that he is awake; he is watching you leave, and you do so anyway. You know that this will break his heart and that you will not return in the morning – so there will be no screaming tearful scene to dread – and you walk out into the night.

How does this work? You aren’t sure and the night is way colder than you had thought it would be. You fold your arms and exhale – your breath comes in pale white clouds – and wait by the sidewalk. You have no idea who you are waiting for; but you recognize him instantly, even from a distance. The golden tip of his cigar illuminates the shadows of his face and his dark eyes are trained upon your face.

“Let’s play a game,” he announces as he makes his way to your side. “No one will ever find out.”

“What is it?”

“Oh, this is all very simple. We’ll make a trade, all right? I know you’re lonely and you’re tired of your life – throw everything to the winds then! Spend some time with me. I’ll show you what life was meant to be. This could be the opportunity of a lifetime.”

A part of you hesitates: it isn’t too late to turn back now - your house is just a block away. But this irresistibly handsome man is making you a proposal; he seems a little tipsy, but he knows what he is talking about.

“So what will it be, m’lady? All I ask is just a little bit – just a fraction – of your heart. You don’t have to give me all of it.” He cocks his head and takes another drag of his cigarette. “You come with me – I’ll show you the world – and all you have to give me is just a fraction of your heart. What would you do with a complete heart anyway?”

You nod and his face breaks into a grin, exposing his perfectly aligned teeth. You shake hands.

“Very well, then. It’s nice to meet you: I’m Thrill.”

The deal having been sealed; you spend the next few weeks with him. It is completely exhilarating, a whirlwind of perfectly sequenced, impeccably timed adventures. You ride in his convertible at speeds so fast your breath catches and the wind roars against your ears and your eyes water. You dine at an impossibly expensive restaurant without a penny in either of your pockets – and dash. You get high, smoke pot – do everything with Thrill that you had always dreamed of but never dared. You spend your nights in clubs in a blissful haze and dash across roads in a drunken daze with Thrill by your side, always by your side.

The first two weeks are perfect, and then you grow irate and tired. And after too many mornings spent nursing a splitting headache, you decide that you have had enough of Thrill. You find him lounging on the couch, his shirt unbuttoned, his chiselled good looks untainted by the endless wild nights. But he seems to have lost his charm, and you are angry and miserable and upset about the tattoo you had gotten on impulse the night before – a string of Korean characters that you didn’t even understand.

“I’m leaving; can I please have that part of my heart back?”

Thrill shakes his head. “That’s not how things work, you’ve had your fun and now you want to leave. That’s fine. But remember the trade we made? I kept my end of the bargain, so no, you can’t.”

That very night, you are out on the streets again – waiting for another proposal, ignoring the leers from the men around you. And this time, you meet Approval – a nice boy with thick black rimmed glasses, a couple of years younger than you.

“You know the rules of the game,” he says softly, without the half the charm or witticisms of Thrill, but just as, if not more compellingly. “I can give you what you want. You’ve always wanted me – I’m the one you’ve been looking for all your life. All you have to do is give me a portion of your heart in return.”

You squint at him in the dim light and the agreement is made.

He lives up to his word; he is an attentive lover: Approval showers you with compliments, and flowers, and little gifts, and little post-it notes that appear magically in your wallet. He makes you feel good about yourself in a way you have never felt before. “You’re perfect,” he whispers as you frown at yourself in the mirror. “You’re beautiful,” he assures you – even though no one has told you that before.

“You’re all I’ve always wanted,” you tell Approval in return, knowing that will make his day.

But as days pass, Approval grows colder and more distant. You aren’t quite sure if the little encouraging notes are getting fewer and further in between – or if they just aren’t enough to make you happy anymore. He comes back later with each progressive night, and goes to bed tired, with only a cursory, flat “goodnight honey”.

You seek Approval out: you buy new make-up, put on a new expensive dress, sidle up to him seductively in the hopes that he will look at you as he once did before. You were never quite in love with him, only with the attention that he gave; but now that he is cold and withdrawn, you are disappointed and bitter.

“I don’t need you!” you yell vehemently and storm out.

You stop at a nearby bar for a few drinks and meet Self-Confidence. She is pretty and tall with sultry dark eyes, and a halter top that reveals more than it conceals.

She takes a seat next to you, and watching you for a while, begins the conversation.

“Tell me your past lovers.”

“Thrill and Approval,” your voice has all the sulkiness of a scorned woman.

She pauses, downs her drink with a neat flick of her wrist, and smiles. Already she is relishing the words she has to say, and she knows she is making you an offer that you cannot refuse.

“Stop looking for Thrill; you have to stop. Please stop thinking about him. You’re not a teenager anymore.”
“What about Approval?” you ask.

“Why would you need Approval when you can have me?” she leans across the counter and gazes steadily at you.

“I could be your new best friend. All you have to do is – "

You already know the end of her proposition. You think of your heart – your half of a heart, rather – and decide that you need her more than you require your heart.

COPIED FROM ADA NGO https://www.facebook.com/ada.ngo

She smiles indulgently. “My dear, you won’t need anyone as long as I’m here with you.”

Having Self-Confidence by your side is the best thing that has happened to you. She brings you on shopping sprees, nods at everything in your shopping cart and assures you that you look good – no matter what others may say. Every meal is her treat; every trip out is a new lesson for you. She is your teacher, and the world is your classroom.

Self-Confidence takes you up to complete strangers and strikes conversations with them with enviable ease; she brings you to bars and restaurants and teaches you the subtle arts of flirting, of reeling in a man. She has stripped away your awkwardness and equipped you with the gift of the gab – although, admittedly, it is she who does most of the talking.

You love walking with her along crowded streets – you’re not quite certain if people are making a double take to look at you, or her, but it no longer matters. You love the attention.

One casual Friday night, you are seated with Self-Confidence at a riverside restaurant, when a man approaches the both of you – a stranger you have never met before.

“Hi, I’m R.” He says, hand extended toward you.

You glance briefly at Self-Confidence and she nods approvingly at you.

“Hi,” you reply. “What’s your full name, R?”

“I’m Relationship, but please, just call me R,” he laughs, and gestures toward the empty seat next to you. “May I treat you ladies to dinner tonight?”

Self-Confidence and you have an amazing conversation with R and you feel an instant connection – despite the fact that he is perhaps, ten years older than you. He is witty and charming and soon, you have agreed on the next date. You are in love with him, even though you have only less than a quarter of a heart left, and you have prostituted yourself to Thrill and Approval and Self-Confidence and prostitutes do not fall in love.

You are in love with him, because he hasn’t made you a proposition.

Self-Confidence – your self-declared best friend after all – comes along with you on all your dates, turning your candlelight dinner dates into dinners for three. You are sitting between R and Self Confidence on a park bench, late one night after your date with him, and he turns to you – “I want to know you, really. Tell me about yourself.”

Self-Confidence sneaks away quietly to grant the both of you some privacy; and finally, it is just the both of you without her imposing presence. You pull out the small portion of heart you have left and hand it to R, knowing that it is all you have left.

You don’t know where to begin and start blabbering all about your past to R – about Thrill, and Approval, and all your past lovers whom you’ve never quite gotten over. Without Self-Confidence, there is no one to keep your idle words in check, or to give you sharp glances when you have crossed your boundaries. Perhaps, you are a little tipsy, and perhaps you drank one too many glasses of wine at dinner.

“I really miss Approval,” you sob. “I’ve been searching so long and hard for him.” You are in love with R – you are quite certain of that – but without Self-Confidence, something else in you takes over and draws from you the words that you have actually been longing to say. “Please don’t go, R. I wouldn’t know what to do without you.”

R is silent and then he asks quietly, “Where is Self-Confidence?”

It dawns upon you that he only liked you when she was with the both of you – he is quite evidently wincing at your tears and sob stories. Certainly, where is there not to like about Self-Confidence – the pretty, assured lady with a never ending supply of jokes and stories to dish out? You are hurt and silent and R hastily apologises – a half-hearted bumbling apology – and hand-in-hand, you return to a hotel with him, the air thick and heavy with the words the both of you had exchanged.

You sleep with him, thinking you could make him stay – after all you have given him your heart – but he is gone the next morning, and in his place is a stranger.

“What’s your name?” you ask, squinting at the scrawny man seated on the edge of your bed. Your head is pounding too painfully for formalities or courtesy. “I’m sorry... I think I must have been drunk last night, and I don’t remember meeting you. Where’s R?”

“I’m Hurt,” comes the reply.

You stare quizzically at him and he interrupts your train of thought.  “My name is Hurt. My twin sister is making breakfast – she’s Resentment, and I’m sure you’ll meet her soon. You’ve met R, haven’t you? I’m his replacement. Wherever he leaves, I’ll fill the spaces he has left behind.”

“You must be mistaken - I don’t have any more of my heart to give to you. I have nothing left. I gave it all away to people who have left me.”

“It’s alright,” says Hurt. “I don’t need your heart. I stay with people who have lost theirs. I made a contract with R since the beginning of time – you will always try to seek him, but find me instead.”

You sigh and get up to leave, but Hurt follows silently behind everywhere you go, tagging along in your shadow. He is a quiet guy and most people don’t take any notice of him; they don’t seem to see the stranger standing behind you all the time. How could they possibly not see?

At the most inconvenient times, when you’re finally all alone with Hurt, he rips out old photographs from dusty albums and dangles them in front of you. “You’ll never amount to anything,” he snarls. “Everyone you love has left you.”

After he has left, after he is done tearing you to bits, Resentment enters the room quietly after her brother and whispers, “It isn’t your fault, darling. It was all theirs. They didn’t know what they had when they left you. What jerks they are, aren’t they?”

You finally grow tired of the loathsome duo and you leave the house. This time as you run down the street in a mixture of fear and hysteria, they no longer tail behind silently – they grab at your clothes and pull your hair and try to take you captive once again. You run as fast as you can – missing that familiar pounding in your chest where your heart used to be – run, run, run until they are out of sight and you have lost them in the crowd and you turn a corner and realise that you are on the street where your old house used to be.

And all of a sudden, you see a familiar figure right where your house was. A man. Your husband. The one you left. He is older than when you last saw him, there are grey streaks in his hair and it is then that you realise you have been away for far too long. He pauses at the gate, stares vacantly down the street and suddenly squints into the distance.

You freeze. Perhaps you should run away.

“Darling?” he calls tentatively.

You glance behind, certain that you will see his new wife – but there is no one on the road but you.

“Darling? Is that you?” he calls again. He is walking towards you and you’re too stunned to move. You check behind you a second time and when you turn to face the road, he has broken into a run. Why is he running, why is he running? Your hair is dishevelled, your clothes are in rags, you are barefooted, why should he be running towards you? The last time you checked the mirror you were haggard and gaunt and your face was smeared with tears. You hadn’t even had any intention of coming back to see him like this. Why is he running?
Now he has caught you in his embrace: you’ve been away for so long you forgot how warm his chest was and how comfortable and safe it was to be in the arms of another.

“I can’t believe you’re back. I love you. I’ve been waiting for you all this while. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I missed you.” His voice is on the verge of breaking, and you look up into his eyes to see tears.

“Why aren’t you angry with me?” your initial shock gives way to wonder.

“How could I be? You’re back. Have you forgotten me – your first love? Do you not remember how much I love you? How could I be angry with you?”

It is now your turn to cry – and the tears come thick and fast. You are overwhelmed by shock and gratitude and amazement: oh, certainly, this wasn’t the response you had expected.

“Come now, my dear, there shan’t be any tears tonight. I’ll take you out to dinner – at your favourite restaurant – how about that?”

“I haven’t any nice dresses,” you begin to blubber, immediately realizing the absurdity of your statement.

“Then we’ll buy you one on the way. Come, come, you are home – that’s all that matters. I knew you’d come back – I’ve been waiting for you all this while.” And he reaches to wipe your tears away – your dirty smudged face with his crisp white sleeves.

This is a happy ending – and everyone loves happy ending to stories – even if the stories don’t deserve the happy endings. This is my story; this could be your story – it could be anyone’s story.

But the question is:
Why do we do this? Why are we all prostitutes? Because we are human, and we constantly give ourselves away – even to things that do not satisfy, and people who will eventually leave us. Some of us give our hearts away for momentary thrills, others for the approval of others and yet others remain slaves to hurt and resentment.

This story doesn’t have to end with Hurt and Resentment. In the light of Easter, and what Jesus did on the cross, there is hope yet. There is hope out there for those of us who have fallen so far from grace and who have been searching so hard and so long and giving ourselves away to people, to things that will never satisfy.
This is the amazing story of grace. If only we return to Him, He will restore us. :)

Wine

And no one doth put new wine into old skins, and if otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed
Young's Literal Translation. Luke 5:37

Today when I was in service, it was Pastor Phil Pringle speaking. If I recall correctly, it was during worship when this phrase dropped into my heart.

Previously, I have been struggling for so long trying to break into his presence. Just trying to get a breakthrough into his presence. Every day, every night, praying for a fresh oil. Praying for a fresh presence.  A breakthrough, like a breakthrough of water. But alas, to no avail.

Then Pastor talked about the parable of the dog. He shared regarding how God likes to move with us and along the way, mould our character. How God likes to move only when we are calm and quiet, all the way deep down, calm and quiet.

It made me think, how many times have I really been calm and quiet?

Little.

Now I shall try my best. To worship God, all of my days, to trust in him, with unwavering faith.

I know I am not perfect. But I will try my best.

Now back to the verse.

The real significance for it is that it resonates to what I was feeling and the message that pastor preached later on. I felt that I really needed a paradigm shift- something YiLun prayed during the pre service prayer meeting. I needed a paradigm shift in my character, my thoughts, my perception, my attitude. I cannot be a man who is more law than grace. If Jesus is grace over law, how can i be law over grace? I am not greater than Jesus. Thus, I must put law over grace.

To have new wine, we must be able to have a new wine skin.
A wine skin is used to hold the oil, thus our lives are like the wine skin.
We must receive the revelation into our hearts about the new wine skin.
Thus, we must let the old teachings, the old habits, the old ways of law, to make way for grace.
For under the law none is perfect, but under grace all is made perfect in weakness through Christ Jesus our LORD.

Thus when we want to receive the new oil from God, we need to have new wine skins to hold the new wine. Then comes another problem. Dealing with the nostalgia of old wine.

No one having drank the old wine would immediately wants the new wine, for he says: The old is better.

When God wants to bring us forward and gives us new wine, we need to be able to put away the past successes and miracles and wonders. Yes, we should remember them, but we should not be contained by them. Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, not the miracles and signs and wonders and promises that encourages our faith. Have your eyes on the encourager, not the encouragement! When we look to Jesus, he will give us the new wine that we would so love.

Calm and quiet.
Removing law, placing in grace.
Look unto the encourager of faith.

That is what I shall do tonight as I proceed to enter into my quiet time.
Good day to you folks, see you in church. :)

Desire for the new anointing!

Something I saw on Facebook

Einstein, Newton, and Pascal are hanging out one afternoon
Einstein is bored, so he suggests they play hide and seek
The others agree, so Einstein begins counting

Pascal runs off right away to find a place to hide
Newton takes out a piece of chalk and draws a mid-sized square on the floor around him

Einstein looks up and immediately spots Newton standing right in front of him.
He says, "I found you, Newton!"

Newton replies, "No, you found one Newton per square meter - You found Pascal!"

Detached strings.

Yesterday pastor talked about having thanksgiving in our lives.
Thanking GOD for all things, something which he had said before.
Pastor Phil shared about going through 14 years of craziness.

I looked at my life, and say:"what do i have when i was 5, that i still have now?"

No answer.
Thankful for all things?

But what if you have no-thing.
I don't have a family.
A "Church" is a family, yes.
But it cannot replace my biological family.
Why? I don't know.
But it is different.
I try to detach emotion from thoughts, but this isn't a game.
Sigh.
Not as if I want to talk to my infocomm friends anymore.
Something stupid screwed up.

Guess I really have only one group of friends I can count on, huh...
Lions, I love you.

Poem- Grasp of Air

Lost the keys. down the sea.
There goes precious behind the lee-
Of the stone, now i see
You could never be with me.

Never Had A Dream Come True

Everybody's got something they had to leave behind
One regret from yesterday that just seems to grow with time
There's no use looking back or wondering (or wondering)
How it could be now or might have been (or might have been)
All this I know but still I can't find ways to let you go

I never had a dream come true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I've moved on
You'll always be my baby
I never found the words to say
You're the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be with you

Somewhere in my memory I've lost all sense of time
And tomorrow can never be cos yesterday is all that fills my mind
There's no use looking back or wondering (or wondering)
How it should be now or might have been (or might have been)
Oh this I know but still I can't find ways to let you go

I never had a dream come true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I've moved on
You'll always be my baby
I never found the words to say
You're the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be

You'll always be the dream that fills my head
Yes you will, say you will, you know you will oh baby
You'll always be the one I know I'll never forget
There's no use looking back or wondering (or wondering)
Because love is a strange and funny thing (and funny thing)
No matter how I try and I try
I just can't say goodbye
No no no no

I never had a dream come true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I've moved on
You'll always be my baby
I never found the words to say (never found the words to say)
You're the one I think about each day (you're the one I think about each day)
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be
With you

Never Had a Dream Come True- S Club 7

I miss talking to you. </3

Repost: Education System

It is common and natural for students to cram ahead of examinations, but unless they have a better concept of the various subjects, they will soon forget what they have learnt in school, defeating the purpose and value of education.
Memory and retention is a key ingredient in learning. The frequent occurrence of memories, thoughts and ideas help with the interpretation and understanding of new experiences and ideas.
There is extraordinary diversity in how individuals behave in this respect. One remembers well; another, poorly. This is true not only when comparing individuals but also for the same individual in different phases of time (morning and evening) and age (young and old).
Memory also varies by content; some can remember music and songs easily, but are remarkably forgetful when it comes to other things. This depends on the intensity of the attention and interest attached by the individual to the content.
Some experiences are more universal — the pain of touching fire is a one-shot seared into memory. For most other experiences, frequent repetitions make possible the remembrance. The mastery of vocabulary, multiplication tables, rhymes and poems is generally ensured only by repetition.
But even then, if the material is not tapped and used, the ability to recall content is lost over time.
The most common way in which students learn is geared towards taking and passing examinations. Students pull all-nighters and cram at exam time. This type of content vanishes fast if it is not grounded by conceptual understanding and later subjected to review. “He who crams fast, forgets fast.”
The more the knowledge is used, the more it is retained and helps to grow other knowledge. Conversely, even deeply ingrained content, like one’s mother tongue, is impaired if not used for an extended time — I can attest to that from my own personal experience.
This brings up a key issue for learning and forgetting: What do we know about forgetting? German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus’ experiments on memory loss are interesting.
First, he created a list of 2,000-plus nonsense words, each with one vowel and consonants. He then memorised eight lists of 13 words, waited for some time, then recollected and re-learnt them. He tested himself over periods of 20 minutes, an hour, nine hours, one day, two days, six days and 31 days. He noted how long it took him to relearn the list each time, and then recorded it as a percentage of the original time it took him to learn the list. Forgetting was steep — in 20 minutes, only 58 per cent of the original learning was saved, and over a week, only 25 per cent was retained.
What improves retention — repetition. Moreover, repetition spaced over time works better. This is called spaced learning and has been used in various programmes to improve one’s vocabulary.
The education methods in our schools need to take into account of this short-lived nature of memory.
Let’s discourage our students from cramming everything just before an examination. Instead, let’s encourage them to get a better grasp of the subject matter, so they will not simply learn and forget.

Funnily, I agree with what he has said. Not entirely. However, he pointed out a point I have never thought of but made sense. Repetition does bring about rememberance.
The moment you forget something you knew ten minutes ago means something- you did not learn, you just "happen to know". Study right. Study smart.

Your presence is heaven to me

Who is like you Lord in all the earth
Matchless love and beauty endless worth
Nothing in this world will satisfy
Jesus you're the cup that wont run dry

Your presence is heaven to me
Your presence is heaven to me

Treasure of my heart and of my soul
In my weakness you are merciful
Redeemer of my past and present wrong
And holder of my future to come

Your presence is heaven to me
Your presence is heaven to me

Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus, Your presence is heaven to me
Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus, Your presence is heaven to me

So all my days on earth I will await
The moment that I see you face to face
For nothing in this world will satisfy
Jesus you're the cup that won't run dry

Jesus you're the cup that won't run dry

Your presence is heaven to me
Your presence is heaven to me

Your presence is heaven to me
Your presence is heaven to me

Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus, Your presence is heaven to me
Oh Jesus, Oh Jesus, Your presence is heaven to me

Today....

Today...
I'm leaving all my troubles behind,
I'm letting go ill follow the line,
I'm holding on with all of my life,
i see a rising sun,
we've only just begun,

Today.
I'm walking to the beat of your heart,
take me all the way to the start,
stretch your hands and straighten the path,
I'm found in open skies,
Your heat it lives in mine

Today...
Today...
Today...
Today...
Today...
I'm finding my first love again,
I'm learning how to let you in,
Trusting you with all that i have,
the shadows fade away,
its you that clears the day,

no more running wild,
I'm your for life,
well you got me here, well you got me,
I hear your call tonight,
your heart is min,
well you got me here, well you got me.

Today...
I'm leaving all my troubles behind,
letting go ill follow the line,
I'm holding on with all of my life
I see a rising sun,
we've only just begun,
no more running wild,
I'm yours for life,
you've got me here, well you've got me
i hear your call tonight
your heart is mine,
well you got me here, well you got me

no more running wild, I'm yours for life.
well you got me here, well you got me

i hear your call tonight
your heart is mine
well you got me here
well you've got me

woah~
you took me out of the deepest sea woah~
you gave my soul a song to sing woah~
you took me up on a mountains high woah~
i see my life in a different light woah~ yeah~

you took me out of the deepest sea woah~
you gave my soul a song to sing woah~
you took me up on a mountains high woah~
i see my life in a different light woah~ yeah~

Do you hear his call?
After running around, running to school, running to work, running to catch the train, running to catch the bus, running to meet a friend, when are you gonna run-back to your prayer closet?

Let it be tonight.
No more running wild.
Let him be your for life, as you are his for life.
Hear his call tonight.

Feeling down and out?
He will give your soul a song to sing.
A song as pleasant as the song of mockingbirds
So pure, so sweet a song, that you can sing your heart's out. Freely.
Let his presence fill you tonight.

Let go of those hurts, let go of your past.
And Let God.

Quotes define life. 42. Deal with it.

Favourite quotes of all times.

Some not included yet, because too many.

Have fun.

KIDDING!!!

God has been good, and extremely true to me.
He has never left us, and certainly he will not forsake us.
Because I have yet to seen a single word of his fail. (:
Not that I am anxiously waiting for his word to fail, but I am waiting for his awesome, incredible word to come to pass.

My first word this year from the Lord
Psalms 102:13
You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, yes the time has come. For your servants take pleasure in her stones, And show favor to her dust. So the nations shall fear the name of the LORD, And all the kings of the earth Your glory.. For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. He shall regard the prayer of the destitute  And shall not despise their prayer. This will be written for the generation to come. That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.

May I finally breakthrough in the areas that i need to so that I may praise the Lord with more energy than before, and that i may touch a greater realm of his spirit.

2nd word
2 Sam 5:20
So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

Believing for breakthrough in areas of prayer and in a deeper closeness with the Holy Spirit. Also, in other areas and aspect of my life.

And thus, this year's personal theme for me is Parakletos and Perazim.
Holy Spirit and Breakthrough.
A breakthrough like a breakthrough of water.....
Will you believe with me in my...... dream?

Being a Rebekah

You know, in the bible it tells of a story. There was this one man called Abraham. He walked with God most of his life, and while he was old and advanced in age, He finally had his first son with his wife Isaac.
He was very old when Isaac was finally of age to get married.
Thus He sent his servant out to get a wife for his son.
And the servant went to Abraham's hometown as per Abraham's instructions.
And He told God, God, let the women whom offers both me and my camels a drink, be the woman for my master's son.
And Rebekah went down to the well.
and as she filled her pitcher, the servant asked Rebekah for a drink of water.
Rebekah's reply was; "sure, let me give your camels a drink too, until they are full."
Now notice Rebekah's willingness.
There was no need to water the camels as it was not asked.
But Rebekah had a willing attitude.
How willing?
Well, she was willing to water all the ten camels until they are done drinking!
Please consider that the distance from Abraham(Shechem, which is in Canaan) to Nahor(Haran) is 600km, or 400 Miles!!
After that and to feed all the camels!
Of course, Rebekah didnt knew that.
But she must have been exhausted! I, for one would have given up halfway!
Maybe less than half!
And that is the attitude that we must have when going to help others, helping them to the fullest, and also by our own initiative!
That is the thing which will unlock our destiny in God!

Goodnight!

dreams.

A glass is made from sand. It is beautiful. Until it is shattered. Then a new one is needed. The new piece of glass looked exactly the same. But an additional cost came with it. In alchemy, there are three steps. Theory, decomposition and regeneration. However, the intangible cannot be decomposed. Thus it cannot be regenerated. And the theory does not exist. The hypothesis does. But how do we know the hypothesis is true unless tested? But how do we test it when the medium to test the hypothesis with is not able to be fulfilled unless the hypothesis is theorized. Thus, made true. Thus it goes in a cycle. You cannot get a new life form on this planet to exist. You can only discover one that you have yet to discover. Thus, since there is no regeneration without decomposition, you can't have a creation. I have no idea why I wrote this and diverted till this far. But I guess there was supposed to be a link and connection that joins this whole post together. Hope you find it, I lost it already. God, Thank you.

Friends

You know, every where I went, I was the one who chose my friends. And the friends I made, among all most stayed. But I was just thinking, those times where I could not choose, how many friends stayed? But still, just to test whether I would have any friends if I was not the one to choose, April 15 mighf see a different strategy.

You do the deeds of your Father

John 8:41-42 "You do the deeds of your father."Then they said to him,"we were not born of fornication;we have one Father-God." Jesus said to them,"If God was your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded forth and came from god;nor have i come of myself, but He sent Me Knowing who you are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus was in this passage confronted by the pharisees for Jesus mother bore him before getting married. Most probably, Mary sinned and had premarital sex(formication),or at least that is what the people (Jewst + sadducees + phorisees) say. You know, Jesus could have commanded angels to come down and show them the glory of God so huge that it blinds all of them, but he did not because he was secured in his identity in God. We need to be secure in our identity in Christ so that when other say things about us, or when discouraging thoughts enter our minds, we need to be able to stand firm against those thoughts knowing in our hearts that: We have been saved by grace through faith. And that our sins are washed away, we are holy before God. Gods mercy is new every morning, and He does not condemn. God has a future and a hope for you, plans to prosper you. Nothing you can say, to make him love you more, Nothing you can do, could make him shut the door. In him we ARE a new creation, behold, the old things have passed away. Satan no longer have a strong hold over your life. It is only when we truly know this, and truly believe in this, that when the time comes, that others say, or we feel, or we think, that we are not good enough, that we must cling unto these promises. It is very important we know deep in our heart our identity in Christ. For the devil has come to kill, steal and destroy, If given the chance, we would surely steal away your identity. For when we truly know our identity we will have the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, which will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Life today

Well today was a weird day.
I had fever, ate only three scoops of porridge.
Then I had to eat panadol, lolwut.
But I got well later, but still had a bad headache.
Funny thing is, I keep hearing like a voice asking me to go and pray, go and pray and it was annoying. At times.
I kept arguing with it until about 10, in which I then began to pray for about 20 minutes.
As I was praying I started to cry after a while, and I was asking for a vision for my life for this year.
Nope.
Still no vision.
But there was a joy, an unspeakable joy.
I shall continue to believe in His promises for me, yes.
I apparently have no headache after praying, thank God.
But my body is still aching a little.
Oh wells.
Wish me luck guys!
Hahaha, tomorrow shall be a better day~
PS: I seldom fall sick so it was awkward when I saw 38.0 on the thermometer. ._.

Countdown!!

So on last day of 2012, I went to minds cafe with lions club plus sean minus Andrew. It was fun, and I really enjoyed myself.
Minds cafe is really a fun place for people like us, who like to play strategy games a lot.
However one area of improvement I hope to see is that there is a set where we can have whole day packages from 5pm onwards.(: This is because we like to play all the way to closing. Really hope it can happen, hahaha.
Too bad I'm only a puny unheard blogger, hahahahaha randomzxc.
Anyway, do check them out! They have an amazing set of board games btw.

Poem - Christmas

All alone on Christmas night
Not an ant or rat in sight
there ain't no need janitor said
besides at home there is a bed
 Left forgotten Why not die?
A pull of a trigger Why not try?
Stringed together Was a lie
From the shadows of the sky.

Yelp. Something to think about.

Ever heard of the phrase, "Don't Judge" or ever heard someone saying to you "Hey, are you trying to judge me? Could you not judge me?"

Now the meaning of the word judge(when used as a verb) according to  dictionary.reference.com/browse/judge is as follows:

1. to pass legal judgment on; pass sentence on (a person): The court judged him guilty.

2. to hear evidence or legal arguments in (a case) in order to pass judgment; adjudicate; try: The Supreme Court is judging that case.

3. to form a judgment or opinion of; decide upon critically: You can't judge a book by its cover.

4. to decide or settle authoritatively; adjudge: The censor judged the book obscene and forbade its sale.

5. to infer, think, or hold as an opinion; conclude about or assess: He judged her to be correct.

Now we will be looking at the 3rd, 4th and 5th meaning for the current context that we are in. Now to "judge" for that matter per se means to infer think or hold an opinion. An opinion is a view of one or more persons. Now to view means to look at or inspect. So doesn't that means that as long as we have viewed someone we have judged them? That would be subconscious judging, or people watching.

So this means that as long as we have opinions about someone we are judging them. So what is the right word to use when others judge us for what we do? Or what should we say when we want to express disapproval? Firstly, I have to say this, be sensitive. Tactfulness will be much appreciated. Don't constantly look at their bad points in that area, look for good ones to talk about to encourage him. However do not be fake. Being fake is easily noticed, and while they may give you the benefit of the doubt, they would have already subconsciously lowered your credibility.

Now, let's go on. When you express your disapproval for let's just say, a particular action made by the other party and you say, hey that's childish and you start approaching him and that's also cause you care for this good friend of yours. Now first off tell him that you feel a little surprised(or very surprised at his action depending on the extent but no exaggeration please). Now express your point of view and why you feel disappointed/whatever you are feeling. For me I would give analogies
(if you read my blog long enough you know I use analogies(metaphors, poems) all the time) to state my point of view. Now ask in a very tactful tone, what is his take on this behaviour, or his point of view or his reasoning behind it. Now you must force yourself to fit into his shoes, walk around in it, and understand where he is coming from.

If it makes sense, accept his logic and say something like: "Ahh, I see where you're coming from." But also please DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT be FAKE. If his logic is "MEHHH. Cant be bothered." Then just leave the matter hanging there, and since you took the time explaining it to him, most likely he is a good friend of yours and he means a lot to you. Then try to change him by having the attitude you want him to have. In Chinese there is this saying 近朱者赤近墨者黑, which means the people you mix around with will affect how you will behave, and likely you be like them.

Another saying is "Iron sharpens iron" quoted from 27:17 from the Bible, and it means that mixing around with good people helps to sharpen the blunt aspects of your life. So be a good iron. Help your friend. But remember, don't be fake, and be very tactful. Oh, and PS: if they accuse you of judging, bring them to this post. Everyone judge, ok. By saying someone is for example, pretty, you have already judged her. In which you pass her in your 'judgement' instead of fail. Tell them that you are expressing disapproval, which is a subset of judging. Therefore you are more concise.

From Rick Warren

A lot of people have great vision. But you’ll never see your vision become a reality unless you communicate it well to others. Many great God-given dreams die in the vision-casting stage. In fact, there are seven particular things you need to make sure your people understand in the process of sharing your vision with them. 1. Who you are. 2. Where are you going 3. Why you are going there. 4. What it feels like to be going there 5. What people can do 6. How you're going to do it 7. What the rewards will be For more, read here: http://pastors.com/how-to-share-gods-vision-for-your-church/2/

Research In Motion

RIM, also known as Research in Motion, is a company that was once one of the brightest shining stars in the technology industry. But now, this company has fallen. And you may say, "Hey, you sure crican? I have never even heard of this company, only heard of apple, samsung, nokia." Then I will tell you, "How about Blackberry?" And you should probably say yes by now. If not, go here: blackberry.com Blackberry was the named coined for a brand of phones that was introduced by RIM, headed by Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie. They created the first Blackberry phone back in 1999, but their first famous model was in 2002. (Note: the word famous in this case is subjective, and up to my discretion) So i feel sad for this company because they were not able to adapt to the shift from hardware to software. This reminds me of a story. Widely regarded as the greatest chess master of all time, Garry Kasparov, was the Champion from 1985 to 2000.

The thing was, he lost in 2000 to one of his former students Vladimir Borisovich Kramnik, without winning a single game. As a great fan of his, one day i bought a book written by him and in it He said that one of the reasons he lost was because after being world champion for 15 years, there wasn't really anyone who would tell him if he had gone wrong. He didn't do as much research as before, didn't feel that he could lose. After all, He's Kasparov! Not that he couldn't won and was not good in chess, it was actually just a blunder that cause him to lose. Complacency. He didn't think he could lose. He forgot what his weaknesses were(forgetting it as in thinking that no one could exploit it). The same thing happened for research in motion.

In an article written by The verge, RIM's staff said that they should have made the change to their old and outdated operating system the moment when the Iphone came out. However, due to their change happening a few years late, they experience a drop in market share and also found themselves stuck between changing and upgrading all their phones to the new OS and damaging the phones that would not receive the new OS update. Dr. A. R. Bernard, rated one of the most influential New Yorkers, said this, that a strong organisation is one that can handle continuity and change. RIM couldn't handle both. There was a bad handover involved for RIM to its next CEO and change, well they couldn't move from hardware to software. However in light of their newest phone BB10, I hope they succeed in doing what they set out to do. We search emotion. Without having the passion, RIM got caught up in just making phones, not revolutionary devices. Don't lose your passion. Search for your emotion.

What am I thinking, you say.

Well, I'm always thinking. People always ask, what are you thinking? And I'm like, woahhhhhhhhh. I'd love to tell you but it's weird when it's face to face. So basically this week i was thinking about what happens when one jump. Well basically, there would be a force that pushes up, exerted by our body, Then air resistance and gravity comes into play, and we will reach a height when gravity and air resistance adds to give the equal to the amount of force exerted to make the upward movement. So what would happen when it is in a train> does the same thing happen? Well, yes. because gravity is still the same(Gravity does differ from place to place even on earth, but the difference is less that 0.01ms-2). Now what if the train was moving? I have been wondering how does air resistance affects us when we are inside a train moving 30-40 miles per hour. Does the context of the air resistance change? As in, does the amount of air, temperature of air inside the train, amount of vacuum space inside the train affect the change that air resistance affects us in comparison to outside the train, in the environment, the outside atmosphere? So when we jump in a moving train, what exactly caused us to land on the same stop(as per before the jump)? Is it because the air resistance does not include the air resistance outside? And yes, that is what I have been thinking of. If you could explain it logcially to me, feel free to leave an unprecedented first comment, or email me @ iamchio@hotmail.co.uk AUF WIDHERSTEIN ADIEU!

Being thankful.(:

Today was a wonderful day. Period. (:
I was just reminded of Paul after reading Ephesians chapter 1.
What was I reminded about?
The need to be thankful.
Really, the truth is Paul could say, hey you need to do this and that and this and that, you're cool, yes, but do it if you want to be a better Christian.
But what did Paul do?
He said, I always thank you in my prayers.
You see, Paul is not "Looking for something to Thank God for because He has nothing to thank God for" or "Trying to increase his prayer time" or "consoling himself", no.
Paul is looking at the positive change that happened to the people he truly cared about, and was encouraged deeply by them. Thus He thanked God.

Now, it is true that when we come before God, we must be truthful. We can only thank God for something that we are really thankful for. Thus, we must instill into ourselves a thankful spirit. When we start to thank the people in our lives of the little things they do in our lives, we will start to become more thankful. And slowly but surely we will become a more thankful person, maybe even unknowingly! We must always carry the right attitude towards one another. Now for me, this is very crucial. I have alot of pride in my heart and I really, really do these things subconsciously and I will only know that I did something wrong after I did it. Which is quote sad. And the fact is I really want to change. For the better. But now that it has become somewhat a part of how I connect with my friends, it is hard to break from it. Now the only think I could do is pray. But now, I'm going to pray, and I'm going to start thanking God for the things that He has done, the people that he has placed in my life, especially the people who are an encouragement to me List: encouragements in my life; James Clement Paul Sianghock Amelia Andrea Ngoi Guohao Rachel Bennie Zhenying Yilun Ziying Junrong Szeyin Wesmond Huizhen Andrew TY Heokyong Kaihwee Terran Vivian Zhongyee Fenrong PC Ivan Weixuan So many. Haha. But the people that really encouraged me every step of the way, man, I love them. They are: Andrea Tianyong Szeyin Clement Amelia Guohao these friends are best friends. Great friends. Good leaders. Such an encouragement everytime I see them. ((: Be thankful! Who can you be thankful for? Not sure? I have an answer((: I'm thankful for him too(((: Special list to thank: JESUS((((:

21 October, 2012

So yea.

Yup. This is what I always do.
Set new trends and never keeping it for long but, Yea.
So I just posted a poem by WIlliam Blake, Tyger(it should be below) and I just want to say it is an excellent poem, sound so much better and feels more awesome when you know the beat to say each syllable. So much meaning, so powerful.

So as I am posting this from the Library, it is because I borrowed a book containing many poems and one of them was Tyger. Well, I heard Tyger before in sec 4 so yea. And the poem is really one of the best poems so I thought I would share it here. Anyways.

So expect a few more poems. If i feel led to, I may post dulce et decorum est and dig deeper in it.

But just yesterday I was talking to one of my friends from China and he is a professor in Singapore, a really nice guy. (i live in Singapore by the way)

So he was telling me about how he doesnt use twitter but uses weibo and how he feels that twitter is quite boring because it is filled with people who posted about things like: What am i eating now, Where am I going, Who am i meeting,
But weibo is so useful where it can be used easily for politics and business and it is more meaningful.

Now to this I can respond now saying, it is as usual about the aspect of life ratio.
You see, when people sign up for twitter, they are signing up for a microblog.
A micro blog is a blog that is smaller than average.

Definition of blog: A Web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.

So when people go to their blog, it is like going to their home. They are at ease to talk about almost anything they want.
So if people who sign up for twitter are younger people, than obviously you would not expect them to be talking half the time about politics, but about what they are feeling, and what they are doing with their friends because that is what matters to them.

However weibo is mainly users from China.
Most people there are very driven to succeed in life and be better than the rest.
Thus that is their more important aspect of life.
And whatever that is in your heart, you will talk about it more because it concerns you more.
Thus it is very expected that weibo is used for that.

You see, to me, both weibo and twitter are micro blogs. I think both are interesting, but to different groups of people. It is just like, basketball and chinese chess. Both appeal to different age groups, but I can only say this: You can only find something that interest you useful.
If you are more mature, than you would most probably prefer linkedIn. And if your friends are all on twitter and not facebook or myspace or QQ or SinaWeibo then obviously you would use twitter because it becomes like your home. And when you feel at home, you feel at peace.

So my take? Anything works fine. Not everyone is the same, so definitely the microblogging style and talking about food may not suit everyone, what matters most is the person's character, as long as you find solitutde, and you're happy, that's what matters most.

Ok, BYE FOR NOW:D

The Tyger

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forest of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chair?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

What the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger, Tyger, burning bright,
In the forest of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

William Blake
Amazing poem, I love it best when I speak the poem, it sounds fabulous, taste fabulous, feel fabulous. Just pure AWESOMENESS

Rick warren- 4 Pillars of a strong lay ministry

I was talking with some people after a weekend service once, and I mentioned that we really needed someone to create a multimedia video for an upcoming event. The person I was talking to said, “Why don’t you get her”?

And he pointed to a woman standing a few feet away.  I walked over, found out the her name, and asked what she did. Her reply was, “I’m the chief video production director for Walt Disney”.

Another time, I mentioned that we needed a flower designer to decorate our our worship center for Mother’s Day. Someone pointed to a person in the crowd and said, “He designs many of the prize-winning floats for the Rose Parade”!

It bothers me when I think talent like that could go unused.

You have talented members sitting in your congregation, and you need to uncover, mobilize, and support their giftedness for ministry.

This is vital because your church will never grow any stronger than your core of lay ministers who carry out the various ministries of the church.

Based on Romans 12:1-8, I believe there are four pillars of lay ministry that our churches should be upon –

Pillar #1: Every Believer is a Minister

To be a Christian means being like Jesus. He said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. (Mark 10:45)

We believe these two activities — service and giving — are the defining characteristics of the Christ-like lifestyle expected of every believer.

At Saddleback, we teach that every Christian is created for ministry (Eph. 2:10), saved for ministry (2 Tim 1:9), called into ministry (1 Peter 2:9-10), gifted for ministry (1 Peter 4:10), authorized for ministry (Matt. 28:18-20), commanded to minister (Matt. 20:26-28), to be prepared for ministry (Eph. 4:11-12), needed for ministry (1 Cor. 12:27), accountable for ministry, and will be rewarded according to his or her ministry (Col. 3:23-24).

Pillar #2: Every Ministry is Important

There are no “little people” in the Body of Christ and there are no “insignificant” ministries either. Every ministry is important.

“The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable.”  (1 Cor. 12:18-22)

Small ministries often make the greatest difference. The most important light in my home is not the large chandelier in our dining room but the little night light that keeps me from stubbing my toe when I get up to use the bathroom at night. It’s small, but it’s more useful to me than the show-off light (My wife Kay says that my favorite light is the one that comes on when I open the refrigerator!).

Pillar #3: We Are Dependent on Each Other

Not only is every ministry important, every ministry is intertwined with all the others. Since no single ministry can accomplish all the church is called to do, we must depend on and cooperate with each other.

Like a jigsaw puzzle, every piece is required to complete the picture. When one part of your body malfunctions, the other parts don’t work as well.

One of the missing components in the contemporary church is this understanding of interdependence.  Our culture’s preoccupation with individualism and independence must be replaced with the biblical concepts of interdependence and mutuality.

Pillar #4: Ministry is the Expression of My S.H.A.P.E.

S.H.A.P.E. is an acronym we developed years ago to explain the five elements that determine a person’s ministry.  Those five elements are:

Spiritual gifts
Heart
Abilities
Personality
Experience
Each of us is uniquely designed — or “shaped” — by God to do certain things. If you don’t understand your S.H.A.P.E., you end up doing things that God never designed you to do.

When your gifts don’t match the role you play in life, you feel like a square peg in a round hole. This is frustrating, both to you and to others.  It is also an enormous waste of your talent, time, and energy.

Napoleon once pointed to a map of China and said, “There lies a sleeping giant. If it ever wakes up, it will be unstoppable.”

In many places today, the church is a sleeping giant. Our pews are filled with members doing nothing with their faith except “keeping” it.

If we can ever awaken and unleash the massive talent, creativity, and energy found in those pews — if we can mobilize the ministers in our midst — Christianity will explode with growth.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

I was very impacted by what Pastor Rick Warren has shared. It is important to be released into ministry, so that we van fufill the great commandment, the great comission and the cultural mandate.
Hope this repost was useful!

Pastor Rick Warren is the pastor of Saddleback church, one of the biggest churches in America with over 10000 members.
